Katherine showed an eye-opening short video on change in the world, a version of which can be found on YouTube

and I showed another short video on what is called Web 2.0, also available at YouTube,

We’ve identified some key areas we need to work on for next year, getting a new server at Orca and experimenting with using individual flash drives, or “memory sticks” for students to be able to bring their work back and forth between home and school while their working on projects using their computers.
We also identified the need to re-design the Orca PTA Web site to make the content more relevant and meaningful to the entire Orca community including students, staff and families as well as how to reach out to those families who may not have easy access to computers and the Web.
What we need now are volunteers who are willing to help us with these and many more ways we’re just starting to identify as ways to keep up with the way our children are already using technology and how to prepare them for the world coming their way. If you are interested in helping, please contact Katherine at school or you can email me ay johnkottcamp@yahoo.com.
